Build and connect iOS

Build from source

On a Mac with Xcode 26+ and Node/npm available:

git clone https://github.com/sleepypod/ios.git cd ios npm install brew install xcodegen xcodegen generate open Sleepypod.xcodeproj

In Xcode, select the Sleepypod scheme, choose your signing team and a compatible iPhone or simulator, then build and run. For a physical device, use your own development team and device provisioning.

The repository also documents a command-line build:

xcodebuild -scheme Sleepypod -destination 'platform=iOS,name=YOUR_DEVICE' DEVELOPMENT_TEAM=YOUR_TEAM_ID build

Connect to Core

  1. Confirm Core is reachable in a browser at http://POD_IP:3000.
  2. Join the same local network on your iPhone.
  3. Allow Local Network access when iOS asks.
  4. Use Pod discovery. Core advertises _sleepypod._tcp through Bonjour.
  5. If discovery does not find it, enter the Pod’s IP manually.
  6. Select the correct side and verify the displayed device state.

If the app cannot discover or reach the Pod, follow connection troubleshooting. A simulator and a physical phone may have different network reachability.

Keep versions compatible

The app includes both a Core tRPC client and a legacy FreeSleep client behind a shared protocol. Use the backend appropriate to your installation. Core is the backend described throughout these guides.

Update from the repository and regenerate the Xcode project when project configuration changes. For API compatibility work, see iOS development.
